Born in Southern California, I grew up in Flagstaff, Arizona. There’s not a better place to grow up, in my humble opinion. I loved the 4 seasons and the views. I now live in Phoenix, and while it’s very different from northern Arizona, I’ve grown to love the desert just as much as the high country. I love the sun, and we definitely get a lot of that. Even though there is no snow in the winter, the weather is cold enough to be outside, so we take advantage of the cooler months on the many, many trails around our home in North Phoenix. I love Arizona!!!!
(But in all honesty, the beach is always calling me..)
The Grand Canyon is not just one of the Seven Wonders of the World; I’ve always felt so special that it was ‘in my backyard.’

What’s your primary activity on public lands?
Picnicking, hiking, swimming, enjoying the company of loved ones.
What do you do when you’re not enjoying our public lands?
I practice and also teach hot yoga and hot pilates, so those are some other passions of mine. Spending time with friends, and going out to dinner at new places are things we love to do.
Why is the Grand Canyon special to you?
The Grand Canyon is not just one of the Seven Wonders of the World; I’ve always felt so special that it was ‘in my backyard.’ So many people live in Arizona their whole lives and never make it a point to see it, which is such a mistake! Takes your breath away every time. Especially if you catch it with snow or fog.. SO cool. The hike into the canyon, also known as Havasupai, is by far the most incredible thing I’ve seen. The canyon is so sacred and important to the surrounding Native American tribes; it’s a truly special place.
How did you first learn about the Grand Canyon?
Before I could remember! I don’t remember a time not knowing about it.
Any other favorite spots you recommend?
Saguaro National Park in Tucson, or hiking the trails around the Phoenix area.
